What’s New With the PTG

Hope everyone is enjoying Mother’s Day. We just wanted to post a few reminders and upcoming events. 

May 20th at 5PM in the Media Center (AKA Libary) is the elections for the HVMS PTG 2019/2020 Board. The current Middle School PTG is not seeking reelection. To be nominated to the board you must be present at the May 20th meeting. The PTG will be electing a president, secretary, treasurer, and arts and enrichment coordinator.   middle schol elections

The HVES and HVMS are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Hoosac Harvest Vendor and Craft Fair will be held Saturday, November 2nd, 9-3 pm at HVMHSCLICK HERE for more information. hoosac harvest

 Don’t forget to reserve your tickets for the showing of Mary Poppins Returns this Friday, May 17th. The last day to order The Family Pizza Pack is Wednesday, May 15th. The HVES is still looking to elect a secretary for the  2019/2020 board. Elections for this position will be held on June 6th 6 pm in room 222. Anyone interested in this position must be present at this meeting.  We would like to thank our current board members for their years of dedication to the PTG. We would also like to congratulate 2019/2020 board members,  Kim Slaving President, Ashley Allard Treasurer, and Sonya Boesse Arts and Enrichment Coordinator.

T-Ball Sized Athletic Field for HVES

The HVES PTG along with the HVES PE staff are excited to announce that this summer there will be a t-ball sized athletic field added to the grounds at HVES. For almost 2 years we have worked hard to be able to install a field of this size for our students and community. The HVES will be allocating all the profits from our May 17th Family movie night to the installation of this field.  Tickets for movie night can be purchased here Marry Poppins Returns. News from HVES PTG

We know May is a very busy month for all of our families, but we are in need of some volunteers. The HVES PTG is looking for a few volunteers to help with teacher appreciation events. Wednesday, May 8th we are looking for volunteers to help with You’re a Star Snack Bar. Please click the link to sign up You’re a Star Snack Bar sign up. May 7th is the HVES PTG Meeting and Elections for next years board members. Everyone is invited to attend and Childcare will be provided. The meeting will be held in room 222 at 6pm. We will go Facebook live but remember that you can not vote. You can only ask questions.

May 11th is our Playground clean up day at the school. We will meet at the playground at 8:30 am and if we have enough volunteers we should be done by 11 am. Please note that children will not be able to play on the equipment during this time.

May 17th is the last Family Movie night. Tickets are on sale now. We hope you will join us for the showing of  Mary Poppins Returns. Showtime 6:30 pm at HVMHS.

Upcoming Elections for the HVES PTG

Parent Teacher Group Board Member Elections

The HVES PTG will be holding its annual Board Member elections Tuesday, May 7th 6 pm in room 222. If you are interested in becoming a board member you must be present at this meeting. All current board members are not seeking reelection. The PTG will be looking to elect a new President/Chairperson, Arts and Enrichment Coordinator, Treasurer, and Secretary.

ARTICLE VI – ELECTION OF OFFICERS
SECTION 1 – All parents, guardians, teachers, and staff with the exception of the Principals of the elementary and middle schools are eligible to hold office.
SECTION 2 – The election of officers shall be held annually in May at the regular monthly meeting by ballot of those members present unless waived by a majority of the members present. Officer terms shall begin upon adjournment of the annual meeting in June. The terms will be for one year.

ARTICLE V – OFFICERS
SECTION 1 – The officers of the organization shall include: a chairperson, a secretary, a treasurer, and an arts enrichment coordinator for each school.
SECTION 2 – The officers shall perform the duties described as follows:
A. Chairperson: The presiding chair shall conduct the meeting and cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie. Chairpersons shall be familiar with relaxed parliamentary procedure according to Robert’s Rules of Order. Chairpersons shall be responsible for preparing an agenda for every meeting.
B. Secretary: The secretary shall maintain written minutes of all meetings including all actions taken by the organization. The minutes must be made available at the next monthly meeting for review and acceptance by the membership present.
C. Treasurer: The treasurer shall be responsible for receipt and custody of all monies of the organization and for the disbursement thereof as authorized by the chairpersons. The keeping of accurate accounts of monies received and paid out, oversights of contracts or other instruments authorized by the organization and its members. Preparation and issuance of financial statements shall be made available at the next monthly meeting for review and acceptance by the membership present at the meeting.
D. Arts Enrichment Coordinator: The arts enrichment coordinator will prepare a schedule of arts and cultural activities for students at all grade levels. The coordinator will work within the approved PTG budget to select and schedule said activities. A schedule will be presented at monthly meetings and updated as needed.
SECTION 3 – Officers must attend at least (6) meetings per school year. Absence from (4) meetings of the Parent Teacher Group in one term without previous notification or a valid reason shall be considered a resignation.

What’s coming up this Spring for the HVES PTG?

The HVES PTG has a busy spring coming up and we need your help.

  • Butter Braids are coming in April 2nd. Please make arrangements to pick them up between 3:15-7pm. We do not have room in the freezer for any orders not picked up.
  • The next HVES PTG Meeting is April 2nd 6 pm in the cafeteria. Everyone is welcome and childcare will be provided. We will go Live from our Facebook page during the meeting. If you can not attend the meeting this is a great way to still be involved. You can not vote on Live but you can comment and ask questions.
  • April 6th is the 5th Annual Spring Fling vendor and craft fair at Hoosac Valley High school. We have 100 vendors and something for everyone. This event is from 9-3 pm. We are still in need of volunteers for this event please click the link to sign up Spring Fling Help. This is one of our biggest money making fundraisers and it requires no selling from our students, but we do need volunteers.
  • We are currently working on the next Family Movie Night in May. Please stay tuned for more information.
  • May 9th we will be holding the Teacher Appreciation lunch. We will need volunteers to help on this day. Please click the link to sign up Teacher Appreciation Volunteer
  • May 11th is the Playground clean up.  Join us at 8:30 am to spruce up the playground.  Students can come out to help, but will not be able to use the equipment while mulch is being spread.

Butter Braid orders are due back to school on Monday, March 11th. Please remember to send in your orders.

The Lucky to Have You dance is this Friday, March 15th, 6-8 pm in the Elementary School Gym. Tickets are available at the door. All pre-orders purchased before March 13th will receive a special keepsake ticket.

Candy-Gram Orders

Your HVES and HVMS PTG are now selling Candy-Grams. Candy-Grams will be delivered to students and staff on February 14th during school hours.

Candy-Grams are $1 each and are a fundraiser for the PTGS. (online orders there is a $0.30 handling fee per order)

 

Valentine’s Day Candy-Grams

The Middle School and Elementary School PTG will be selling Valentine’s Day Candy-Grams this year. They are strawberry flavored red rose lollipops are $1 each and will be delivered to your special student, staff member or student on Valentine’s Day.  Order forms will be going home with students very soon. Make sure to fill out the tags with First and Last name of the student, the teacher/classroom they are in, and who the lollipop is from. Without this information, your Candy-Gram might not be delivered. The Elementary school has set up orders online, adams-cheshireptg.com/product/valentines-day-candy-gram/. This is for the Elementary School ONLY. Both PTG’s have ordered a bunch of lollipops and feel that we shouldn’t have any issues filling orders, but orders will be on a first come basis.
